BANK OF DWELLINGS
“He found him seating at the front of his house were his court was build high in a salient place, a beautiful, great court, surrounded by the road. This, he had him self build… with rolled stones and set on it copying of trees.” Odyssey , n, 5-10
Proposed the creation of dwellings bank. The bank is meant together as reserve of residences but also as a table because of the particular form proposed for the project. The bank is built (from top to bottom): 1. (third layer) from an upper surface-slab, the terrace, a second elevated ground plated on the pile. 2. (second layer) from pillar dwellings-block of flats (dwellings meant as structural elements and also meant as residences), and consolidated in the territory of Attica3. (first layer) from new (urban) ground-square, with islands around corresponding with footings of pillars. In the bank is realised the gathering of residents. True gathering, figurative gathering, gathering of amusement gazing the Acropolis. Each residence in the proposal functions as structural unit, as “brick”-building brick for the vertical articulation of manufacture. “Building bricks” width of 6.5 m. “are built” in stonemasonries creating one big-wall (as recollection of exterior walls in ancient city of Athens). The proposal is establishing a dialogue with the despotic type of post-war Athenian block of flats and propose an urban living with intensive metropolitan characteristically in a loggia-wall with the idea of stratification of sandwich. By elevating the ground at the terrace of residences toward the rock of Acropolis is created an unhindered optical relation of Athenian living with the imaginary historic background.
